The process of starting a business can be very exciting but not problem free. As a beginner the 3 habits to form as from the get go that will help you succeed are
Reading
Read as much as you can and read the very best books you can find. Books can be expensive but do not make this an excuse as there are some free downloadable good books. They offer masterclasses in building and growing a business.
Yes, not all business books are equal but, most truly successful beginners in business that pay attention to what others have been through increase their chances of success. So read and learn from those that have gone before you because they will help you navigate this long hard road.
Listening
There are many new emerging products and services in business and many of them come as a result of listening to people. Listen to what people in your community are saying. That joke they make of one thing or the other that frustrates them can be the thing that can start or grow your business.
Listening and staying open to opportunities sometimes means trusting your gut and others in the business. It can mean joining forces with another person. It can be very scary to join forces with someone else but if you trust them and trust the move will be successful. Go for it.
However, if you decide to go for it or solve a prevailing problem make sure that you have the time, the capability and are equipped well enough for it. Beware of jumping on something and then realizing too late that you are not ready, are not the person for this type of business or the person you joined forces with is not who they made out to be.
Resisting
It can be tempting to follow trends that might get you more money but, running a business is hard enough without you biting off more than you can chew. As is, stocking up on something that you know nothing about but is trending and then ending up with unsold stock.
Resisting a prevailing trend can and will save you a lot of heartache and money. Do what you know and don’t worry about who does not like it, don’t chase the popular market, which will probably have shifted by the time you are ready to market.
